Graphic Objects - Text

Each text object on a FoD-OMR form is contained within a text frame, from which the alignment and orientation of the text is calculated.

Adding text/Definition tab

To add a text object to a form, select the Text tool button and draw the text frame on the form. The Text Object dialog box opens.

The definition tab contains the actual text that appears in the frame as well as tools for linking to fields in a data file.

FoD-OMR has a powerful feature that integrates information from data files into your form. The source of your text object can be either fixed (the text from the Definition tab is constant for each form) or can be linked to fields within a data file (such as application or spreadsheet output).

To extract information from data files, you link text from the definition tab to external data fields. This feature is fully discussed in Merging data from files.

Format

From the Format tab, you can set the properties of the text within the text frame. Alignment is the position of the text relative to the frame. Text can be horizontally aligned to the left, center and right, but also to a decimal point.

When decimal alignment is selected, the text is aligned to the first decimal point in a line. See blow for an example.

For text frames that contain large amount of text, you can set the line spacing and word wrap properties from the frame, as well as the distance of the Tab stop.

For word-wrapped text, resize the text frame by dragging any side of the frame to the dimensions your require. Text will be word-wrapped within the frame.
