Error Messages

Error messages from FTForm8 are rare and mainly reported at Build time. Most relate to either form errors (missing source fields for example) in which case the build does not start, or through font errors.

Build Error Messages

Build ran out of memory

Technical error, please send form definition, data file and screen shot from Help About to support@formtrap.com.

Cannot get character widths, current font is 'fontname': Win32 error 000000000.

Character widths are not available, this is a Windows error and not FormTrap, please lookup the error in a Windows-related web query.

The TrueType font 'fontname' is missing some required table(s).

Font is suspect, please use another font or reload the font from a trusted source.

This form contains the character 'char', but that character is not in any of the project's used Unicode sub-ranges.

Incorrect Unicode sub-range for the project. Sub-ranges allow the project to convert only the ASCII characters, and punctuation, and currency or the full Unicode set of character glyphs. The character mentioned is not part of the sub-range set. Full Unicode results in inefficient load files and longer production times (take a look at most True Type fonts to see the characters that are otherwise loaded but never required for most true type fonts).

Unable to find a font named 'fontname'.

The font is used on the form but is not present on this machine. This is normally the result of moving the project definition to a computer that does not have the font installed. Install that font and retry.

Unable to retrieve TrueType font fontname data.

Font is suspect, please use another font or reload the font from a trusted source.

Output is compressed or miss-aligned for non-Western characters, compared to design.

Most projects have the Build parameter Unicode Sub-ranges set to ASCII only or similar. Set to Entire Unicode as shown.

No font widths are calculated for characters outside the range given (big fonts take longer to process). Alignment is hence left from the indicated point (data shown was right aligned in design).
